First of all, let us begin from a common thing. The word ‘obesity’ is definitely familiar in your ear. Obesity itself happens when your body fat has accumulated to the extent that it has an adverse effect on health. The method to measure the percentage of body fat is by body mass index (BMI). The way to know the BMI is so easy. BMI is calculated by dividing the person’s mass by the square of his height. If we have 18.5 up to 24.9 result of that calculating, it means that you have a normal weight. If you have 25.0 up to 29.9 BMI, then you are overweight. Morbid obesity is a condition more than overweight. It is happening when you have 35 BMI. This is absolutely harming your health.

When we are talking about any diseases, we could not be apart from ICD. ICD stands for International Classification of Diseases. As the name, it is a system to classify any diseases by some codes. It is always getting some expansion and the new one is the tenth revision (ICD-10).  The morbid obesity ICD-10 code is E66.01. It begins from code E00-E90 (endocrine, nutritional and metabolic diseases), and E65-E68 (overweight, obesity and other hyperalimentation). Then, it goes to morbid obesity ICD-10 (E66).

The causes of morbid obesity are not difficult to know. If you continue to eat more calories than your body can use during daily activities, your body will build up fat. Having too much fat in your body caused obesity and morbid obesity at worse. The other cause is by consuming certain medication such as antidepressant.

Risk for Morbid Obesity

It is known clearly that anyone can gain weight and become obese if they eat more calories than their body can use. It is related to eating habits and daily activity level. Most people develop their eating habits as children. They will have some difficulties to maintain proper body weight in adultness. Other factors are genetic factor, stress, anxiety, and lack of sleep.

Complications of Morbid Obesity

If you think that obesity is just caused you to have the less of confident, you are totally wrong. Obesity is a health concern and without proper treatment, obesity can lead to other serious health problems. They are heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea (periodically stop breathing during sleep), reproductive problems, gallstones, certain cancers and metabolic syndrome. Prevent this danger disease by changing your lifestyle and eating habit. Be healthy, be a well body weight standard.
